Family Room - Cane End, Oxfordshire

This sophisticated family room in Cane End, Oxfordshire was completely reimagined by Marina Hughes Interiors to transform a tired, disconnected space into an atmospheric and highly considered room for family living and entertaining.

The existing room presented a number of spatial challenges, including two separate entrances. Through careful space planning and detailed design, the layout was reconsidered to create a stronger sense of flow, improve functionality and establish a clear focal point within the room.

A dramatic dark grey colour treatment wraps the walls and ceiling, creating an intimate and contemporary backdrop. The television and feature electric fireplace were incorporated into the overall design, while carefully positioned architectural and decorative lighting introduces warmth and atmosphere throughout the space.

The studio developed the complete FF&E and decorative scheme, balancing the generous proportions of a bespoke U-shaped sofa with sculptural furniture, statement lighting, rich textiles and carefully selected accessories. Warm brass and gold accents provide contrast against the deeper architectural palette and add a subtle sense of glamour.

The result is a confident yet comfortable interior that demonstrates Marina Hughes Interiors' approach to combining space planning and detailed design with lighting, bespoke furniture, FF&E and decoration to completely transform the way an existing room looks, feels and functions.
