BIID Members Wilding and Wolfe and John Amabile Design discuss Removal Services

Platinum Partners, Clockwork Removals, sat down with BIID members Wilding and Wolfe and John Amabile Design to discuss the value of using procurement services .

John Amabile Design have worked with Clockwork’s Glasgow branch for many years. The Clockwork team check deliveries, store items before installation and assist the design team on “Dress Days” with clients. Clockwork’s skilled operatives deliver, unpack, build and install furniture where directed. They also ethically dispose of all the packaging once the work has been completed.

Does using a procurement service help save time and resources?

This service helps us to get the project completed quicker. We can get all goods delivered to the clients dedicated storage crates so that we know everything has arrived prior to the dress day. Then we can unpack and build all goods in a shorter time frame with help from the clockwork team.

What would you say were the benefits of using a procurement service?

Peace of mind knowing we have all goods prior to installation and knowing that we have a good team on hand to get everything delivered to the client and installed professionally and efficiently. It’s also great at the end of the day knowing that all packaging/rubbish will be removed as it then gives us a tidy/clear space to complete the look for the client.

How do you find Clockwork’s installation services?

Excellent, the team is always very helpful.

Clockwork’s Leeds branch have been assisting Wilding and Wolfe with a recent residential project, checking and warehousing furniture prior to the project installation. Clockwork’s team then delivered and fitted all the items at the client’s property.

Does using a procurement service help save time and resources?

This was a huge help to us because we were able to snag items prior to installing meaning that there are fewer items to snag and potentially replace once they are on site.  This meant a decreased impact on the client in the long run.  Clockwork unwrapped, checked and then re wrapped all items and then added them to a spreadsheet with images so that we had a visual record of everything that had been delivered and the condition that they arrived in. In terms of everything being delivered by one team instead of multiple suppliers, this was logistically easier for us on site and saved time waiting on site at different times for different suppliers.

What would you say were the benefits of using a procurement service?

In the case of this project the program ran significantly over and suppliers wanted to deliver items that were taking up space or were charging a lot for storage so this was an ideal solution to that problem.

Would you recommend it to other designers?

I would recommend this service to other designers if the clients are comfortable with the additional cost.  It has been easier for us as designers to snag and install.

How did you find the installation process?

The installation went smoothly and the team were helpful and pleasant to work with.

Things to consider when using a procurement service:

  • Provide as much information as possible about the sort of procurement services you need, including the type of inventory you require, delivery dates and details plus any additional services; full unpacking or installation, handyman services, ethical removal of waste etc.
  • Make sure all deliveries are labeled correctly so they can be identified and inventoried quickly in the warehouse.
  • Where possible make your storage partner aware of delivery dates and times. Any advance information helps with warehouse scheduling.
  • Speak to your procurement team about organising third party suppliers like electrician’s for large light fittings etc to help with the installation process.
