A Message From BIID President Angela Bardino

Thank you for your continuing membership of the British Institute of Interior Design. It is wonderful to be writing my message to the membership in our 60th Anniversary Year. We have an exciting year ahead supporting our membership with a lot to look forward to. From celebrating interior design over the last 60 years, to an afternoon tea to thank our volunteers. We intend to embrace this very special anniversary and invite each of you to enjoy it with us.

As always, we remain committed to our core mission of advancing professionalism, integrity and excellence in interior design and this year has seen us continue to offer a useful range of benefits, services and events to members. We have offered resources on issues including anti-bribery regulations and building regulations, networking opportunities at our collaboration breakfasts at Decorex and Surface Design Show and CPDs on Colour Scheming Beyond Trends and CDM: Your responsibilities explained, to name a few!  We were also delighted to re-introduce our annual conference Inside Knowledge, as a free-to-attend member-exclusive networking and knowledge sharing event.
We champion interior designers and interior design at the national and international level. I was delighted to be invited to the annual conference of the European Council of Interior Architects (ECIA) and to share my perspective not only as the BIID president but as a UK interior designer.

We remain committed to integrating sustainability and diversity and inclusion into all of our activities. In the last year we have continued to provide resource and events that help designers integrate these into everyday practice and released our Diversity in Design Survey results. 

It has been a huge privilege to lead the organisation, with 6 months remaining,  I look forward to meeting as many members as possible at different industry events including this year’s Inside Knowledge conference.
