Formal Sitting Room
This formal sitting room was previously a dark and uninviting space. The fireplace dominated the room, the west facing window was small and there was no natural focal point in the room. We opened up the west elevation with three large full length windows which were separated by stone mullions to maintain a harmony with the existing style of the building. This allowed for not only a huge amount of natural light, but also maximised the views over the garden and surrounding countryside. We recycled an old oak beam from the kitchen and re-purposed it as a mantle over the wood burning stone. The combination of the wood and stone paired with contemporary touches such as the bronze aluminium doors allows for a timeless and warm look.
