Be-kin project

Grade 2 Listed Manor House

Be Discreet.  Be Tasteful. Be-Kin.

After completing their property in London, our clients next briefed us to design their latest acquisition—a 10,000 square foot Grade 2 Listed Manor House in the British Countryside. A spectacular property, steeped in history, it captivated our imagination, and provided a unique challenge for our holistic aesthetic.

With a young family to consider it was important that the Manor House be designed for practical everyday family use, whilst keeping the grandeur and history in play. To this end we made sure the floor plans were sympathetic to young children running around, and that any precious objects or pieces of furniture were not kept in the main family areas.

When it came to the furniture specification, we repurposed some of our client’s existing items and then sourced a unique range of contemporary pieces that worked together with beautifully appropriate antiques from the late 19th and early 20th century.

We also designed a series of customised stools and an ottoman, with unique piping details. For the rugs, we worked with a vintage rug supplier who came to site one day and rolled out a selection of quality antique rugs. These were lovely to see in-situ and pick from – in addition we designed some custom rugs for the drawing room and entrance hallway.

It was a pleasure to work on this project and a joy to weave another layer into its extraordinary design and architectural history.
