Grade II Listed Apartment Renovation in Kensington: Bespoke Craft, Delivered with Precision
A Grade II listed Kensington apartment, reimagined with stained oak, gold leaf and exacting craftsmanship.
Behind the period façade of a Grade II listed building in Kensington, a 150 m² pied-à-terre was ready for a second life. Our clients wanted an uncompromising specification: bespoke joinery, hand-finished decoration and two completely reimagined bathrooms. They also wanted a sensible budget from the first day to the last.
GBG delivered the apartment as the design-and-build contractor, working hand in hand with the clients’ interior vision. We provided technical design, buildability review, detailed specifications, and daily project management. Our clients provided the taste and the ambition. Our clients live in Switzerland, so we managed every detail of the London project on their behalf, from the first survey to the final handover, keeping them informed and in control of every decision from a distance. The result is a home that feels effortless, which is the hardest thing to achieve in an old building.
Within two weeks of our first conversation, we completed the pre-construction stage: drawings, a destructive survey, a plumbing survey, a fully itemised specification, and every notice, condition survey, and approval required by the building’s managing company. The five-month build followed a transparent, carefully priced budget, with our director on site every day.
