Modus Vivendi project

Hereward Home Cinema

This client was a long-term customer of Modus Vivendi that we had delivered a substantial amount of work for over the past 10 to 15 years.

During the first pandemic lockdown the client decided to extend the ground floor of the property to install a swimming pool, landscaped garden and an additional multi-purpose family room. Following these works, an additional living room in the house became vacant and the owners decided to convert it into a dedicated home cinema, and wanted a complete turnkey solution for the renovation.

The new room’s dimensions were challenging to work with and as the client didn’t have a clear budget, we took them to our Chelmsford facility to show them various equipment and cinema room set-ups. This gave them a much better idea of the options available to them and once they had decided on the technical specifications, we created a 3D render of the room, so they could visualise exactly where everything would go and how their cinema space would eventually look.

We stripped the entire room, built out the front wall, along with constructing a coffered ceiling. We fitted bespoke fabric panels along the front wall with integrated LED lighting. We built a rear stage area for the 2nd row of seating, bespoke housing for their new projector and motorised curtains on both sides of the room.

Rather than traditional leather cinema seating, they opted for a more family-friendly chill-out area with cosy fabric-covered daybeds, and motorised reclining seats for the whole family to relax and watch films from.
