Home cinema and games room project

We worked closely with BIID interior designer Fiona Brass to create a luxurious cinema room on the top floor of a family home in Surrey that doubled up as a games room, home bar and entertainment space.

With a brief to create a multi-functional space for entertaining that would work just as well during the day as in the night, we worked closely with Fiona to ensure the result was exactly what the homeowner wanted.

The key challenge we faced was the restricted access into the space. Despite the room being relatively large, the only access was through the house and up two sets of stairs. This determined that nearly all the furniture had to be built in sections and assembled on-site by our joinery and installation teams.

Another challenge was the complete refurbishment of the pool table to match the new joinery and look of the cinema room. It was a large-scale joinery piece with a high number of complicated angles.

We designed and crafted an 8m long piece of fitted joinery to house the screen, media equipment, home bar and additional storage. 

The pool table was fully refurbished to match the dark stained wood of the joinery and a new playing surface in a subtle grey baize. 

We designed and manufactured two deep-seated sofas, three large armchairs and three ottomans for the cinema seating. Between the sofas and armchairs, we added side tables fitted with tray tops that could be lifted off to take drinks to and from the home bar. Brushed bronze handles and soft-leather lining added a luxurious touch to the trays.

Four bespoke bar stools and two matching occasional chairs sit around the bar and pool table area. Our metalwork team created two sets of side tables that can easily be moved around the cinema room.

Aside from the tray tables, side tables, ottomans, bar stools and chairs, all the furniture and fittings had to be assembled in the room. As our installation team had visited the property at the start to measure the access routes, widths of all the entryways, ceiling heights and stairways, the installation went without a hitch.
