Modus Vivendi project

Horsham Smart Home

Our client: Modus Vivendi were recommended and introduced to the client by a friend and mutual contact, to assist with re-designing an appropriate scheme for a substantial property they were building on a secluded plot of land which was to be their ‘forever home’.

The brief: The client was looking for a whole house solution, incorporating; security, audio distribution, 4K video distribution, motorised and automated curtains & shades, lighting control, integrated building services including a motorised car lift along with a high performing dedicated home cinema room. They had previously been recommended a Control4 system, but due to the overall requirements and desired outcome, we believed Crestron Home was a more suitable platform in this instance.

Our solution: We initially set about re-designing the house system to accommodate Crestron Home, ensuring all third-party systems would integrate and control seamlessly.

As the client was very security conscious, we developed a broad scheme providing intercom and access control to the main gate, which calls through to their mobile phones and Crestron touch screens around the property. CCTV integration was provided, allowing viewing access from a mobile app, Crestron touch screens, as well as TVs. The front door was also integrated with a biometric reader to open the front door using fingerprint recognition.

The property has hundreds of lighting circuits, all of which can be controlled by the Crestron Home system via mobile app, lighting keypads, local room remotes, or touch screens, so any lighting scene can be set from any room in the house.

Crestron roller blinds and curtain tracks were also supplied and installed, giving the client complete control over shading automation. All blinds were colour matched with bespoke facias, to blend in with the décor of the space for a high-quality finish.

Within our client’s impressive and substantial underground garage, they wanted to be able to call each of their cars up and down to ground level using a car lift. We were able to integrate the lift with Creston, so that the client could operate the lift at the touch of a button via his mobile phone. The garage also incorporated lighting control, audio and climate control, as well as occupancy sensors, meaning that energy was saved across the space when the client was not present.

Along with underground garage, the basement also benefitted from a huge gym and work out area, games room, and the real show piece, an impressive dedicated 9.2.4 Dolby Atmos home cinema with 3 rows of seating.

The overall house system also included a full Crestron Digital Media system providing UHD / 4K video distribution, as well as multi-room audio, heating and cooling integration and control. Full Smart Home & Lighting Control in Horsham, Sussex
