LIVERPOOL ROAD, LONDON

Liverpool road project was a full house refurbishment including a new rear conservatory in Islington, London. The client wanted to give a fresh modern feeling to the house that had not been refurbished for more than 50 years. The desired style was modern with industrial and mid-century elements.

The lower ground floor consisted of a small kitchen area and a separate timber and glass conservatory. We worked together with a structural engineer and a structural glass supplier to open existing space and build a new steel and glass contemporary conservatory. This allowed us to create a large open-plan space for a kitchen, dining area and a lounge that smoothly transition into a garden patio. Microcement flooring was used throughout on this floor to add a touch of industrialism. New kitchen cabinets in navy blue were ordered from Spain and made to order, complemented by a beautiful moonrock quartzite worktop. The Cloakroom was finished in the same microcement as the flooring featuring brass sanitaryware.

The ground floor was transformed into a living room and a study at the front of the house. Television joinery, office wall-fitted shelves, metal divider shelving unit, as well as the rug, were custom designed especially for this project. The entrance lobby got upgraded with a bespoke crittall door and a window. All staircase balustrade in the house was changed from timber to metal for a more contemporary look.

The first floor hosted a guest bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. We created a panelled headboard with a niche and bedside lamps instead of a standard bedside table configuration to keep more floor space around the bed. The bedroom benefited from bespoke built-in wardrobes on the way to the bathroom. The ensuite bathroom was designed in simple grey tones with a dash of blue patterned tiles behind a bathtub to add interest.

The top floor was transformed into a master bedroom with an ensuite shower room. Both front and back windows were changed to imitate a crittall look. We incorporated a walk-in wardrobe and a seamless door to the bathroom for a sleek modern look. The ensuite bathroom was fully covered in grey microcement featuring some elements in red such as lever handles and shelves.  

All windows in the house were upgraded to double-glazing with black frames to follow the industrial theme.
