HISTORY & CONVERSION

Longmans Mews was originally built in the late 1930’s to provide workshops for industrial artisans. Its dramatic saw-tooth roof with north-facing, large glass panels allowed the interiors to be filled with natural daylight, making it the perfect environment for design and manufacturing.

The unique building is tucked into a corner of the stylish Park SW20, newly developed by Equitas Properties. It blends with the surrounding properties and leafy neighbourhood of Raynes Park, offering mews-style living and a sense of community in South West London.

The conversion of Longmans Mews into a stunning collection of one and two bedroom contemporary apartments required the reconstruction of the exterior using the same Ibstone Ivanhoe cream brickwood and recreation of the roof’s distinctive profile of steep slopes and ridges. The addition of large glass panels and doors, balconies and terraces ensures the interiors of all the apartments are filled with natural light and each has access to a private outdoor space.

INSIDE

The apartments within Longman Mews have been designed to balance functionality with aesthetics. Taking advantage of the size and structure of the building, the industrial space has been blended with Scandinavian-inspired décor to create contemporary, light-filled, spacious, urban chic interiors with high ceilings, underfloor heating and clean, simple lines.

A neutral palette of soothing greys and milky whites creates a calm, serene environment while large panels of glass flood the living spaces with natural light.

Engineered wood adds warmth and natural character throughout all living spaces, including the open-plan lounge and kitchens, bedrooms and entranceways. Woodpecker Salcombe Dune Oak and Chepstow Planed Grey Oak were specified for all 25 of the apartments, totalling a size of 880m2.

Equitas purchased the flooring through one of our nearby stockists. With our entire catalogue stocked at our warehouse in South Wales, the woods were supplied in smaller amounts as and when required, ensuring the project could progress smoothly and on time.

‘We like to use wood flooring on every development where possible. Aesthetically it works for us given the choice of finishes and product types available, especially when compatible with underfloor heating. We were provided with Woodpecker samples and liked the quality and options available along with the good price point. We were put in touch with Woodpecker’s representative Nick Henry who provided excellent support throughout the project.’ – Michael McCarthy, co-founder of Equitas Properties
