We were commissioned by a well-travelled client from England who loved colour and fun to refurbish a luxury safari lodge in Tanzania. We chose a ‘Mexico meets Morocco in the Bush’-theme for the space, with the client’s personality reflected in the interiors.
Part of the challenge was to specify furnishings that would withstand the perils of the African environment including exposure to extreme weather conditions and all manner of wildlife!
The bandas (bedrooms) were designed to blend the feeling of an English country house with the vibrancy of Africa; hence the authentic Zanzibar day beds in vivid colours sitting next to a traditional master bed with crisp white bedding, chintzy cushions and a romantic mosquito net.
Antiques from England were imported, including a billiard table, travel chests and family photographs creating the feeling of a 'home away from home'.
