Meet the Winners - North and North West
Learn more about the designers and projects that recently won BIID Interior Design Awards
Now open for 2025, the BIID Interior Design Awards returns for a fourth year and the search is on for this year’s winners. The awards celebrate exceptional design projects by UK based designers with both residential and commercial projects previously receiving the accolade for the North and North West region. The Artistry House Interiors won in 2023 for its impressive commercial project at Manchester Museum, followed by Jeffries Interiors for their stunning Tempus Hotel with JoJo Bradley Interiors taking highly commended for their Georgian Villa.
Stunning Hotel
The transformation of cattle sheds on a 150-acre estate in Northumberland into The Tempus, a unique hospitality venue, epitomises a creative and meticulous design process. The design goal was to offer a visually stunning experience in each of the 15 eclectic-themed bedrooms, from tropical to eastern-inspired décors, enhancing the guest experience with vibrant colours and imaginative elements.

Jo Aynsley, Design Director at Jeffries Interiors commented. "As a team, we are specifically proud to have worked with the clients on this project from the very start. Although the build was a 2 year project, the vision began 7 years ago when the development was bought in phases and we had a hand in creating and steering the overall brief. It was fascinating to see derelict farm building being flattened and re-built, re-using as much of the original stone as we could and re-purposing the original arches which I feel add so much character to what is essentially, a new build hotel. The trust in which the client put in us, when viewing the mood boards and seeing an explosion of colour and pattern speaks volumes and attests to the successfulness of creating such a unique space."
"It is an honour to receive this award and to be considered alongside some of my design heroes. As a small company, it has received a lot of recognition, and will be something we are very proud of for a long while to come."

Judges were captivated by the energy and creativity of the design, praising the bold use of colour, texture, and pattern. The hotel feels entirely unique, delivering an experience that is exciting and different from other venues in the region.
Beautiful Family Home
The Georgian Villa design process focused on redefining three reception rooms into distinct functional spaces: a dining area, an entertainment/TV space, and a children's area for TV and studying, reflecting the clients' needs. Despite the challenge of aligning client opinions on room usage, detailed floor plans facilitated consensus by showcasing potential functionalities for storage and entertainment.

Becca Watt's, Senior Designer at JoJo Bradley spoke of their joy at winning highly commended "The BIID awards 2024 was a wonderful afternoon. From walking into the majestic Drapers Hall to meeting a variety of people across the industry. Everyone was so friendly and chatty, it is great to hear different insights into the industry and compare notes. The food was delicious and it was fascinating to listen to the speaker Lucy Worsley. Everyone was supportive and cheered each other on during the awards, it was lovely to be a part of it all and very honoured to walk away with a Highly Commended award. "

The judges felt the design successfully brought a sense of vibrancy to the home, using bold patterns and textures to create a beautiful, curated environment that feels both timeless and full of life.
Urban Masterpiece
As part of Manchester Museum’s ambitious ‘Hello Future’ project, its team and Wilson Mason Architects engaged The Artistry House Interiors to deliver a selection of crucial non-gallery spaces, with a multitude of purposes, including retail and learning spaces. The objective for the project was to create a visual through-line across these spaces, showcasing high impact objects, whilst being mindful of the functionality, visitor experience and flow.

This impressive design successfully creates a warm, inclusive environment that perfectly reflects the aim of reimagining the museum for the people of Manchester. It encourages frequent visits and longer stays, fostering community engagement and learning, and the key spaces are designed with multi-sensory experiences and accessibility in mind.

“It feels incredible to have won this award. We poured so much passion and energy into the Manchester Museum project, it was always such an honour to have the opportunity to work on a historical building of this magnitude, sharing this with a larger audience and having our achievements validated by the BIID community was really important to us” comments Rose Peploe, Interior & Spatial Designer at The Artistry House.
The BIID judges said that the design for the rejuvenated Manchester Museum delivers a flexible and coherent space which shows careful attention to detail, reflecting ‘a focus on sustainability, inclusivity and imagination’. Noteworthy features include the inviting book matched reception desk and adaptable, ethically sourced furniture. They summarised that this is a remarkable public space, designed with high-quality accessibility and versatility, which is appealing for all ages.
“I realised that our Manchester Museum project seemed quite unique and felt this could be an opportunity to share our work with a larger audience. The idea of having our project viewed on a national platform was really exciting! Being a relatively new design practice based in the North West we are always looking for opportunities to expand our network.” explains Rose.
