How do I enter?

Entering is easy! Here's a step-by-step guide:

  1. Register on Our Awards Platform: Start by registering on our user-friendly awards platform. Once you've completed your registration, you'll have access to create and edit your entry until the submission deadline. Use the login details you created during registration to access your entry.
  2. Select Your Regional Category: The BIID Awards are designed to recognize individual projects, so choose the regional category that corresponds to the location of your project.
  3. Provide Project Details: Tell us about your practice and your project, including its size and completion date.
  4. Share Your Design Process: Provide an overview of your project, highlighting its goals, user-focused solutions, standout innovations, challenges faced, feedback received, and its long-term sustainability and impact.
  5. Upload Supporting Materials: Upload supporting materials such as before and after photos (where applicable), visuals, and floorplans. Please be aware that the photographs of your completed project may be used on the BIID website, during the awards ceremony, and in other BIID marketing materials.
  6. Submit Before the Deadline: Make sure to submit your entry before the deadline.
  7. Payment: After completing your entry, you'll be prompted to pay the entry fee using a credit or debit card. Once you've made the payment, you'll receive an invoice for your records.

What are the judges looking for?

  • Clear Understanding of the Client’s Goals: How well does the project align with the client's brief and priorities?
  • User-Centred Design Solutions: Does the design effectively meet the needs of the space’s users, enhancing functionality, accessibility, and comfort?
  • Creative and Innovative Problem-Solving: What standout features demonstrate originality, ingenuity, or effective solutions to challenges?
  • Overcoming Challenges: How were significant obstacles in design or implementation addressed, and what lessons were learned?
  • Impactful Feedback: What feedback highlights the project’s success or identifies opportunities for improvement?
  • Sustainability Beyond Materials: How does the project address sustainability in broader, long-term ways, such as adaptability, energy efficiency, or social impact?

ENTRY CRITERIA EXPLAINED

  • Who can participate: Entries are open to interior designers and architects. Both BIID members and non-members can apply.
  • Types of eligible projects: Interior design projects from various sectors are eligible, including residential, commercial, and public sector projects.
  • Project completion timeframe: To be considered, the project must have been completed and handed over to the client between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2024. Projects completed outside of these dates are ineligible for entry.
  • Client consent: Before entering your project for an Award and allowing the Site Assessor to visit the property (if shortlisted), you must obtain permission from your client.
  • Terms and conditions: Before submitting your entry, please thoroughly review the complete terms and conditions.

How are the projects judged?

  1. All entires will be reviewed by our Shortlisting Panel
  2. Every shortlisted project will be visited in person by expert assessors from our Site Assessment Panel.
  3. All shortlisted projects will be submitted for final judging by a separate group, our Judging Panel, to ensure the most rigorous and fair judging process. They will judge the information supplied by entrants, in addition to feedback from the Site Assessors.
