Mezzanine Flat in a Grade II Listed Building, London, UK.
Soulful Living, Suspended Between Sky and Nature
Set within a Grade II listed building, this mezzanine flat is conceived as a serene retreat suspended between sky and nature. Inspired by views across the park and treetops, the interior embraces a timeless sense of calm through a restrained palette of soft woods, stone, and natural textiles. The result is a home that feels quietly elevated, where heritage and landscape come together in effortless harmony.
At the heart of the project, a gentle spiral staircase leads to the mezzanine master bedroom, creating a sculptural journey upward into a space that feels both intimate and airborne. Floating above the main living areas and nestled among the treetops, the bedroom becomes a place of pause and retreat, shaped by light, openness, and a deep connection to the natural world. A small biophilic garden at the base of the staircase introduces a living focal point, bringing softness, vitality, and tranquillity into the centre of the home.
The bathrooms extend this sense of restoration, with pebble-detailed floors, organic textures, and spa-like finishes that echo the quiet rhythm of the outdoors. Every detail has been considered to create a feeling of ease and sensory balance, allowing the home to support both daily living and moments of retreat. Rather than imposing itself on the building, the design works in dialogue with its historic character, preserving a sense of authenticity while introducing a more contemporary way of living.
