Biid merit award winner: iris dunbar

The British Institute of Interior Design Merit Award was created to
recognise members who have achieved excellence in interior design
practice, contributed to the development of the Institute itself and the wider field of design education.
We are delighted to announce that this year’s winner is Iris Dunbar.
Iris has worked tirelessly throughout her career to raise the profile of
the interior design profession, both nationally and internationally.
She graduated in Interiors from the School of Architecture at Dundee
University before going on to work in commercial design practices. After
several years in practice, she decided to change career track to
education, establishing the Interior Design School in North London in
1991. Iris is a longstanding member of the Institute, serving on the
Education Committee for many years before becoming a board member and
eventually becoming President in 2008. More recently she has been a key
figure in the development
of the BIID Professional Pathway which was successfully launched in
April this year. In addition to volunteering her time on behalf of the
Institute she has also served on the board of directors of the
International Federation of Interior Architects and Designer (IFI) for
the last few years and been a member of UKTI Design Partners.
Throughout her career Iris has been unswerving in her dedication to
improving standards in the interior design, from education to
professional practice and the Merit Award is extremely well deserved.
The BIID Merit Award is created by Identity Signs.
