Charlie Luxton announced as MC for the 2023 BIID Interior Design Awards

Published on

The British Institute of Interior Design is pleased to announce architectural designer, Charlie Luxton, as the MC for this year’s BIID Interior Design Awards ceremony, taking place at Drapers’ Hall, London, on 12th October 2023.

Charlie Luxton is passionate about sustainability and architecture. He has spent the last 20 years designing sustainable buildings and making television programmes for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, and Channel 5 about architecture and design. Charlie is interested in creating architecture fit for the 21st century; designs that respond to local materials, traditions, and climate. He is the principle of Charlie Luxton Design (CLD); an architecture firm of twelve that specialises in sustainable buildings.

Working on projects that range from community-led housing, through to re-wilding visitor experiences, recording studios, and one-off homes, CLD always seek to deliver sustainable architecture to the highest standard. They begin the design process from people and place; the client and the site, it’s from here that their architecture grows. With a passion for the environment, sustainable architecture, and eco-friendly design, Charlie is the ideal choice of MC to present the BIID Interior Design Awards, which includes the Anna Whitehead Prize awarded for the best achievement in sustainable interior design.

“Charlie’s exceptional experience and expertise in architecture, sustainability, and design make him the perfect fit to host this year’s awards,” explains BIID President May Fawzy. “We’re looking forward to Charlie being part of this celebration of British interior design and we are confident that he will inspire and encourage our guests in their future award-winning projects.”

There's just one week to go until the second annual BIID Interior Design Awards ceremony which takes place on October 12th. Interior designers from across the UK will gather under one roof to celebrate 26 shortlisted projects, where the winners will be announced across 7 regional categories.

“The BIID Interior Design Awards shortlist reveals the inspirational creativity and high quality of interior design in the UK today. We’re looking forward to seeing which projects impressed the judges and which will scoop the top prizes,” concludes May.

The BIID Interior Design Awards is sponsored by headline sponsor Havwoods, sustainability sponsor Swatchbox, and supported by Abels, Decorex, Arte, Design Central, and Lutron.
