CPD Deadline for BIID Registered Interior Designers

As the year draws to a close, it is our duty to BIID Registered Interior Designers to remind you that your annual CPD hours are due by Friday 28th April 2023 for all learning activities undertaken in the period 1st April 2022 to 31st March 2023.

WHAT IS THE ANNUAL REQUIREMENT?

All BIID Registered Interior Designers (UK and International) are required to undertake and record 20 hours of CPD activity in each membership year (1st April to 31st March). A minimum of 10 hours of CPD activity must be ‘structured’ and the remaining hours can be ‘unstructured’.

WHY DO WE REQUIRE REGISTERED INTERIOR DESIGNERS REPORT THEIR CPD?

Staying up to date with the latest materials, technology, innovations, and legislation is essential for interior designers, and commitment to accruing CPD is a benchmark of professionalism. CPD strengthens an individual’s knowledge of their vocation, fortifies the reputation of the sector, and benefits your services to clients.

EXEMPTIONS

Associate members of the BIID are not required to submit CPD hours.
Retired and non-practising designers are also exempt from the requirement.
Members that join after the 1st of October 2022 will not be required to submit their CPD hours for the current cycle, but begin recording their hours from the 1st April 2023 for the next CPD Cycle.
Extenuating circumstances, for example a long-term illness, will be considered on a case by case basis.

STRUGGLING TO FULFIL YOUR 10 HOURS OF STRUCTURED LEARNING REQUIREMENT BEFORE 31ST MARCH?

There are multiple opportunities in the BIID events diary for upcoming structured learning before the close of the year.

Take advantage of the many structured CPD courses offered by the BIID by:

Attending a BIID event – there are over 20 hours’ worth of learning opportunities available in February and March on a wide range of topics
Accessing online training via the Professional Development section in the Member Area
Booking a session via the CPD Providers Directory

To record your annual CPD hours, please use the BIID CPD Tracker in the Member Area, email the office to receive the current BIID CPD Tracker Template, or keep track using your own template.
