Cartwood Buildings specialise in constructing and renovating traditional structures that use and embrace oak. They pride themselves on delivering hand crafted, bespoke designs that capture their clients’ visions.

With Old Park Mews, Cartwood were called in by the developer to transform a decaying courtyard into 5 luxury dwellings. Over the course of a year, all of the buildings were renovated and individually designed to complement the surrounding countryside and glorious views.

The stunning finish blends modern features with traditional materials and oak features heavily in both the framing and flooring of the homes. The spaces seamlessly integrate with their rural environment, offering a light and airy, relaxed style of living.

Each property has hardwood flooring and underfloor heating (UFH) throughout the main living areas and kitchens. We worked with the contractor and their local builders’ merchant representative on site, helping to choose a suitable specification and offering technical advice.

From a selection of samples, Harlech White Smoked Oak engineered flooring was chosen for its stable, UFH compatible construction and light, rustic style that would beautifully complement the property design.

We reserved the 340m2 required for the project in our South Wales warehouse until needed. And the product was then purchased through the local Woodpecker stockist, Covers.

Fitted in all 5 of the homes, White Smoked Oak is defined by its whitened grains and exciting natural colour variations. The floor has a characterful appearance that works perfectly with the timber features and stands out against the sleek surfaces.
