With several upscale eateries across the UK, Dubai and Hong Kong, the experience at Gaucho has been hailed as the 'Gaucho Experience', where diners can indulge in Argentinian food and wine.

This Gaucho restaurant was awarded the 'Most Effective Restaurant Design' a few years ago and is located behind a Grade I listed facade in Birmingham.

Design brief

The refurbishment of the Piccadilly and Broadgate Gaucho restaurants gave birth to the elegant design scheme for this project, which has been inspired by the beauty of the Ombu trees from Argentina. As a nod to their soft grey colours, sculptural, swirling branches, roots and striking leaves, two focal point ‘trees’ in the centre of the restaurant were created, with criss-crossing curves of pale carved wood and decorated with bespoke artwork to replicate the image of the ombu leaf.

To achieve the desired effect, the space was covered with 180mm width planks of Ocean Breeze Ecohardwood double oak engineered wood flooring in character grade and a brushed finish, selected by the client.

Cotton Thompson Cole was chosen as the design and construction consultants for the Gaucho in Birmingham project. They partnered with Conceptualise to create the design, while also project and cost managing, as well as procuring all fixtures and fittings.
