Interior designer Karen Oliver was briefed to turn a former bike shop into a calm, natural light-filled haven designed to represent the unique shapes of the human body with flowing lines conveying movement.
Anthro-Contrology is a luxury studio specialising in dynamic reformer Pilates. For their new studio in Richmond, we worked closely with their design team at Karen Oliver Design Ltd to create bespoke commercial joinery and furniture whose form would be both beautiful and functional.
The new Anthro-Contrology studio required a piece of large-scale commercial joinery to house all the Pilates props, decorative objects, decorative lighting and sound equipment. At first, the owner wasn’t sure that she needed a bespoke solution for this joinery unit but after discussing it with Karen Oliver, she agreed it needed to be tailored to the studio’s needs.
Our joinery team worked with Karen’s initial ideas and together refined the design for a floor-to-ceiling unit that would maximise storage whilst leaving enough space for people to walk by.
Following directions from the studio owner and Karen, the layout of the storage was planned out. Karen specified cork for the back and inside the bottom cubby holes of the storage for its natural sound and protection properties. Our joinery team spray-painted the unit to match the client’s logo and colour palette.
When asked about working with the Origins Design team on the project, Karen said “Origins Design went out of their way to fulfil everything for the tight deadline and were quick to solve minor issues. They were collaborative and gave good ideas. Origins provided a really high-quality finish to both pieces and the installation team were really professional. The final pieces are eye-catching, and they exactly meet the brief.“
