Detail Lighting project

Southbank Place

Detail Lighting were commissioned by the architect and developer to specify lighting solutions for 97 apartments, communal areas, and a premium health club and spa that would complement the building’s luxurious design and amenities.

A spectacular development situated in the heart of London, 5 Belvedere Road offers true luxury in residential living.

Part of the Thames-side development Southbank Place, the 20-storey building designed by GRID Architects boasts a wealth of residential developments as well as an exclusive residents’ lounge and a premium health club and spa.

Working closely with the architects and developers, Detail Lighting specified the lighting for all the apartments, communal areas and the health club and spa.

One of very few companies able to provide the breadth of products and level of project management required for a such a large site, Detail Lighting supplied LED lighting solutions that fulfilled the brief to achieve a luxurious and long-lasting finish.

Lighting for apartments

Concealed Volans LED dimmable coffer lighting in the living room and bedroom ceilings illuminate these principal areas with a warm white glow, whilst a hidden strip in the curtain pelmets adds a touch of finesse to the scheme.

A similar inviting yet opulent ambience is achieved via floating ceiling elements in the hallway, and single and double trim lighting allows for directional lighting for wall washing and illuminating furniture throughout the properties.

Providing a cooler appearance, 3200K lighting was selected for the bathrooms, lifting the space and deilivering a vibrant appearance. A strip Ledline was incorporated into the shower shadow gap and concealed under the vanity unit for a hint of discreet extravagance whilst a bespoke back-lit mirror radiates a feeling of elegance.

Lighting for communal areas

Special solutions were required for wall washing the faceted feature wall in the entrance and foyer, supplemented by sleek Linear LED Ledline lighting for the reception desk façade.

Working closely with the designers and the site team, exceptional lighting solutions were specified for the residents’ health club and spa. Specially colour matched trims were incorporated throughout, whilst the Volans Linear LED lighting was used extensively in the pool and treatment rooms to provide a calming and spa-like ambience.

Custom built IP67 linear lighting was also commissioned for the steam room and wet areas, an essential requirement for spa environments.

The end result is a high-end and luxurious retreat; an asset and added value for residents of this outstanding development.

The warm white glow in living spaces created an inviting atmosphere for residents and guests to relax.

Specialised, more focused lighting schemes in bathrooms and communal areas make for a more functional aspect. The lighting features cooler tones helping users to navigate around communal areas.
