We were appointed by a lovely couple who lead busy professional lives working in the heart of London. The brief was to create a sophisticated urban retreat that reflects their modern lifestyle, maximises space for entertaining, functionality, and takes advantage of the breathtaking views over London’s city center. After purchasing their new home, which had been a rental property for the past three years, the apartment was tired and in much need of a refresh. With their busy professional lives and frequent travelling, Studio Smiths were appointed by the clients to provide a full turnkey service from design direction through to project management overseeing the full refurbishment and installation of the three-bedroom apartment
To create a relaxed yet elegant interior we worked with a sophisticated blend of clean lines, sumptuous textures and rich finishes such as marble, brass and velvet. Neutral tones with pops of colour add warmth, textured silk wallpapers add visual interest while sleek furnishings and statement lighting fixtures exude a sense of understated glamour. It was also key for us to emphasise the apartment’s panoramic views over London, so mirror placement and the furniture layout was thoughtfully designed to ensure these views were framed from key living areas, such as the living room, dining area and master bedroom
