'What is a Passive House?' we hear you ask. A Passive House (or Passivhaus) is an energy-efficient property constructed to a specific building standard. The main benefits of a passive house are the ultimate operating cost efficiencies through the reduction of energy use - based on the principle that reducing heating loss to a minimum is the most cost-effective and robust way of achieving a low carbon building.

Passionate about energy efficiency, the homeowners of this Passive House felt that managing solar gain was essential to maintaining indoor comfort without relying on air conditioning.

To regulate heat and light while preserving the home’s uninterrupted countryside views, we installed six Executive Power Screens across key window and door openings. These were tailormade in our factory, and benefitted from:

• High-performance solar mesh: The homeowners selected 20:30 black solar mesh, which reduces glare, controls heat buildup, and provides additional privacy without compromising natural light.

• Recessed integration: To maintain the sleek architectural lines of the property, the screens were installed within dedicated external pockets, making them virtually invisible when not in use.

• Smart automation: The screens are fully automated, operable via the Somfy app or integrated into the home’s automation system for seamless climate control.
