“Creating wallpaper is something our customers have asked us to do – for many, many years. But as artists and craftspeople, we were not prepared to make a product that simply replicated or merely resembled our fabrics: it had to have the same depth, intricacy and mystique, and also stand as a beautiful, desirable product in its own right.” Tom Helme Co-Founder.
Fermoie has translated its beloved fabric designs into wallpaper for the first time. Each design faithfully recreates the companion fabric in all its complexity and hand-drawn beauty, including capturing the nuances of light and shade against the woven base cloth that gives Fermoie fabrics their unique depth and fascination.
“Through their extraordinary artistry, creativity and technical capabilities, our studio and production teams have translated the colours and patterns of our fabrics into wallpaper with absolute clarity and fidelity - something many believed was impossible. Perhaps most remarkably, skilful use of tones and colours perfectly recreates the twill of our base cloth with its areas of light and shade, and the pigment overlay that, together, help to give our fabrics their sense of depth. Indeed, it is only by passing a hand over the paper that it becomes apparent the surface is flat, not woven.” Tom Helme.
On 9th September 2025, Fermoie is launching its new wallpapers in 159 colourways across10 of its most enduringly popular designs:
Astrea, Carskiey Broad, Carskiey Single, Flag, Marlborough, Ruffle, Savernake, Shell Grotto, Strié,
Ticking
Each wallpaper matches the patterns and colours of the corresponding fabric, making it easy to create a unified scheme. The colours have been carefully developed in the Fermoie design studio to achieve an exact match in natural daylight.
OVER 40 YEARS IN THE MAKING
The new wallpapers draw on the co-founders’ knowledge and love of wallpaper that long pre-dates the company’s inception in 2010. In the 1990s, Tom Helme and Martin Ephson pioneered the use of artisanal printing techniques combined with modern technology to create Farrow & Ball (block-printed) wallpaper.
“Wallpaper is a true ‘Fermoie’ product that upholds our established principles and practices: designed and made entirely in-house at the home of Fermoie in Marlborough, England, using sustainable methods, and combining tradition, artistry and the hand-drawn line with contemporary technology.” Martin Ephson Co-Founder.
