The Monolith kitchen sits within a newly built private residence in London. Unique and ambitious architecture makes this property one of its kind and sets the vision that the clients sought to reflect in every detail of the interior.

The kitchen's design concept draws on architectural cues such as poured concrete, monolithic columns, and organically shaped metal. These themes are interpreted into furniture design, creating a kitchen environment with its own identity that works harmoniously with the rest of the home.

The Monolith kitchen was shortlisted in the IDA and SBID Awards 2022. Powerful angles and a dramatic material palette give this kitchen the presence that a unique home demands. Extended high ceilings, inspired interior architecture and tactile materials, result in an open-plan kitchen environment akin to a modern art exhibition.

The five-metre island is clad in black granite, fabricated and crafted to create an abstract 3D geometrical form. An integrated breakfast bar runs the island’s length, sitting flush with the worktop and tapering inward before disappearing. Cabinetry in dark-stained timber and acrylic lacquer paired with black granite worktops create a dramatic and monochromatic design. The wall cabinetry and breakfast bar are hand-finished in textured copper metal. Copper accents lift the palette, adding texture, warmth and an organic aspect to the space. The striking feature back panel is individually sourced Jade Onyx, with natural, earthy green and copper tones throughout. At night, the LED backlighting illuminates the panel to produce an atmospheric glow and reveal the translucent beauty of this precious stone. Hidden doors open to reveal two secret rooms on either end of the kitchen. A walk-in larder and additional worktop space provide generous pantry storage, while the snug home cinema offers a cosy space to enjoy the latest movie releases from the comfort of home.
