Refurbishment and reconfiguration of a Victorian terraced house in Redburn Street in Chelsea London.

A house had been separated into two flats and our brief was to recombine the flats into one home once again.

Working within the house's historic envelope, we introduced a modern interpretation of its original principal spaces and functions.

A formal living room and library are located on the first floor, while an informal kitchen and entertaining area are now situated on the ground floor. There are further a study, a shower room, and a day bed in the former closet wing.

The walls are plastered with pigmented lime render and have a natural finish with slightly changing textures, reflection levels and colours.

The floor is finished with wide oak boards. The thoughtfully designed junctions between materials complement the historic fabric and create a calm atmosphere.
