Acoustic Room-Within-A-Room Pod

Case Study 3: Acoustic Room-Within-A-Room Pod
  • Project Title: Bespoke Residential Sleeping Pod for Open-Plan Loft Apartment
  • Division: Mute Soundproofing®
The Challenge
An expansive open-plan loft apartment located in London’s premium Marylebone required a dedicated, highly isolated sanctuary for rest and relaxation. The core architectural challenge was introducing a structural acoustic enclave within a wide, open living zone without disrupting the spacious feel or layout of the apartment. The solution needed to protect the space from flanking noise originating from adjoining properties and the bustling city environment outside.
The Solution
Mute Soundproofing® designed and built a fully independent, high-performance "room-within-a-room" acoustic sleeping pod. Engineered to provide complete spatial and structural decoupling, the pod shields occupants from both airborne and structural vibrations. The scope of works was fully integrated with the interior design scheme, featuring an advanced acoustic floating floor with a sleek, polished concrete particle board finish, alongside a premium integrated floor-to-ceiling shelving unit.
The Design Outcome
The installation delivered a beautifully isolated, quiet retreat that functions seamlessly within the wider loft layout. By combining structural noise control with premium interior joinery and minimalist styling, the project successfully blended technical performance with the home's contemporary aesthetic.
