Eligibility Criteria
International Interior designers must belong to one of the following organisations, and you must be located outside of the UK. International Dual Members hold the same status as a Registered Member or an Associate Member except for a website profile and access to Client Referrals.
Application Process
Applicants are required to complete the PDF application and include the following:
- Information about you and your career to date
- Education and training
- Contact details of the professional organsiation you are a member of
If you do not belong to one of our recognised professional organisations you may apply to become a Registered Interior Designer®, Associate member, or Provisional Associate member.
Membership Fees
The subscription rate for International Dual Member is £145 (Exclusive of VAT) per subscription year. Membership dues are based on the calendar year (April – March). Memberships are pro-rated monthly. Fees are reviewed annually.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Application Refusal - The BIID reserves the right to refuse International Dual Member status to applicants.
- Annual Subscription - Our financial year for membership runs from 1st April to 31st March. Annual subscriptions are due on 1st April. Individuals who apply mid-year will be issued an invoice calculated monthly on a pro-rata basis.
- Resignations - Members should inform the Institute by 31st March if they do not wish to renew their membership.
- Refunds - No refunds of a subscription or part subscription are possible.

BECOME A RECOGNISED INTERNATIONAL ORGANISATION
International organisations can partner with the BIID to have a reciprocal arrangement for the benefit of its interior designer members. Members of the BIID can apply to become a member of the international organisation as an International Dual Member at a discounted rate and members of the approved organisation can apply for International Dual membership with the BIID. Please see the available member benefits above.
The BIID will consider the international organisations’ request for a reciprocal arrangement for International Dual membership upon receipt of the following information:
- Organisations must write to the BIID stating why they wish to have a reciprocal arrangement with the BIID
- Organisations must provide evidence of their entry requirements which must be of a similar standard to that of the BIID.
- Organisations must provide a subscription rate for their current membership and the proposed subscription rate for BIID Dual members
- Organisations must provide information on the benefits of membership and a list of what will be available to BIID Dual Members
- Organisations must provide a mission statement
