Artisius Co., Ltd. RON DESIGN project
Car Lover's home
This residence for a family of three has a Japanese-style one-story exterior that adapts to the surrounding environment. Being situated within a residential area, the design is considerate of the surrounding local building forms on its public face and sits quietly in its location.
Once stepping inside, you'll be fascinated by the built-in garage that reminds us of the cockpit from a James Bond movie. A study, full of the client's collection, and a step-down living room with a dynamic glass opening overlooks the garage. The living room was designed with an opening as large as possible so that the client’s beloved car, Ferrari Roma could be seen from top to bottom. And there are also large windows on the other side of the living room facing Japanese garden. We ensured the safety of installing large windows on both walls through careful structural calculations.
The beautiful music resonating from the wall-mounted Bang & Olufsen sound system, sloping the ceiling helps the client to relax in the room. The free time he spends here admiring his Ferrari is a source of energy for him.
The couple's bedroom is adjacent to the walk-in-closet [WIC]. The WIC houses a collection of their favorite luxury brand, “Louis Vuitton”. The bedroom where they spend a lot of their time looking at some of their favorite things is a space where they can dream about traveling.
Our client is a huge fan of Virgil Abloh, who had been an art director for Men’s wear at Louis Vuitton but unfortunately passed away from cancer in 2021. He has a large collection of his creations and enjoys looking at this collection while lying in bed, and wearing the clothes they have bought, as if walking down a runway. Then, they remember the late designer they admired. And as if traveling to another dimension, they imagine all sorts of things, such as wearing their favorite jumper and carrying a bag as if going on their next “Luxury Voyage”.
The back wall of the bedroom is contemporary in character with vintage flourishes. The beautifully layered printed damask paper shades, in both the pattern and the background, create an emotional sense of space.
We thought that if Virgil Abloh held a show on stage with a background like this, he would feel comfortable in his eccentricity. The accent is a caricature of Batman drawn by a Japanese artist.
What is more, there is a famous story that Louis Vuitton collaborated with Fornasetti in 2021, and we selected wallpaper with Fornasetti's design for his study in which he keeps many of his favorite things.
It is extremely important to spend precious time in one’s favorite space (home) surrounded by the things they love. We hope that the spaces we have designed will give our clients vitality and harness their imagination for their future.
