We were appointed to undertake the architecture and interior design for the renovation of this beautiful Grade II listed village house which has been reinvented as a modern country-style family home with connected, light-filled spaces reflecting the colours of nature. Introducing new openings and removing walls enhanced flow and circulation, and floor-to-ceiling windows provide stunning uninterrupted views across the valley.

The focus throughout was on exposing and enhancing the beauty of the historic materials such as flagstones, timber trusses and stone windows. With the exception of an intimate claret-coloured bar, the aesthetic is a soft neutral palette with green touches reflecting nature. Natural, textured fabrics and vintage pieces sit throughout including a baker’s table incorporated into a kitchen island. A vaulted master suite incorporates a wonderfully serene ensuite with blush-coloured marble-clad shower and roll-top bath.

The overall design, with exposed historic fabric fused with both vintage and modern pieces, has resulted in a warm, inviting and truly unique family home, at one with nature.
