Located in the picturesque Momoyama-cho area of Atami City, overlooking the sea, this former resort, built over 40 years ago, has been transformed into a villa and curated hotel for the owner's family, who are also contemporary art philanthropists.
Throughout the building, you'll find a rich collection of art curated by the owner over the years, along with pieces acquired during the late Edo period. Traditional crafts, time-honored interior decoration techniques by skilled carpenters, and decorative artistry are beautifully integrated into the design, breathing new life into the 40-year-old concrete structure, often viewed as a negative heritage. The innovative design incorporates Japanese elements, revitalizing the building.
The 640 m² facility, which serves as the owner's villa, is available for rental as a whole or as individual rooms. Guests can choose to rent four spacious guest rooms or book each facility by the hour. The average size of the guest rooms is 62 m², including a Japanese-style suite featuring an authentic Urasenke tea room. These rooms showcase impressive large-scale art created by Japanese artists, with each designed by three international designers, each following a distinct theme.
Public spaces include a lounge with a substantial deck, suitable for salon seminars and concerts, in addition to a living/dining/kitchen area. There are also two private bathrooms with large decks, and a shared office and meeting room that is conducive to remote work, making it perfect for workcations. The facility boasts a high level of entertainment value, featuring a tea room for authentic tea ceremonies and a gallery space for private exhibitions.
Momoyama Gaen can accommodate up to eight guests, providing a luxurious and spacious villa suitable for various purposes, including special family gatherings, corporate training, and luxury inbound tourism.
