BIID Historic Houses Tour: 2 Willow Road & Fenton House

Event date

BIID Members, plus a guest, are invited to explore two architecturally important small houses in Hampstead, North London; 2 Willow Road and Fenton House.

2 Willow Road

Designed by acclaimed architect Ernö Goldfinger in 1939, this unique and surprising Modernist home was inhabited by four generations of his family. The house paints a vivid picture of the urban creative and social circles of the mid-20th century through Goldfinger’s modern art collection, innovative designs and intriguing personal possessions. The tour of 2 Willow Road offers a fascinating insight into the life and work of an important figure of the British Modern Movement and includes a short film with archive footage.

Fenton House

Just a short walk from Willow Road, Fenton House and Garden remains one of London’s best-kept secrets. This 1686 townhouse is brimming with world-class decorative and fine art collections ranging from the sixteenth to the twentieth centuries.  Enjoy panoramic views across London from the top floor balcony. Outside, stroll through our intimate two-acre grounds, including a 300-year-old orchard and kitchen garden. Further afield, discover the winding lanes of historic Hampstead village and the Heath.

The tours will be complimented by a stop for a pub lunch at The Duke of Hamilton in between the visits.
