BIID Tour of the Freemason's Hall
BIID members, plus a guest, are invited on a free private tour of The Freemasons’ Hall in west London.
The Freemasons’ Hall has been the centre of English freemasonry for 230 years. It is the headquarters of the United Grand Lodge of England, the oldest Grand Lodge in the world, and also the meeting place for over 1000 Masonic lodges.
The Grade II* listed building was completed in 1933 and designed in the Art Deco style by the architects H V Ashley and F Winton Newman with great attention to the richly decorated interiors.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The guided route is along the same lines as the
Processional Route on a Grand Lodge or Provincial Grand Lodge day. The tour starts in the Three
Centuries Gallery which gives the group a chance to browse through a 30 year
history of objects and items from the collection and then on through the
Library and other key rooms of the building. The tour concludes in the Grand Temple.
There will be a chance to sit in the Grand Temple and ask questions about the history of the building and it’s many other facets.
