Colour Scheming Beyond Trends: Working with hues for natural colour combinations

This 1-hour webinar from colour expert Fiona De Lys is designed to teach the methodology of creating naturally harmonious paint colour combinations inspired by the movement of light and architectural form for colour scheming. 


WHAT TO EXPECT

Attendees will learn about the relationship between colour and daylight for producing combinations in this demonstration on value, chroma and hue. Attendees will gain an understanding of how observing shadow and highlight, using the 3D principles of Trompe L’œil, can help inform the framework of their practice for creating colour schemes. 

Resources provided

Colour combinations, photographs of architectural examples, written guideline notes to keep, and further reading will be provided to attendees.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
 

Fiona de Lys is a specialist colour consultant known for her unique 3D colour reading methodology, blending science, perception, and imagination. Drawing inspiration from Trompe L’œil and the Italian Riviera, she creates personalized palettes that turn homes into atmospheric havens, forming what she calls ‘aesthetic narratives’®. Fiona has worked internationally with homeowners, brands like Bisley and ORAC decor, and in media for Benjamin Moore and Edward Bulmer. Her work has been featured in House & Garden, The English Home, and Marie Claire. Fiona is a BIID industry partner, a member of the Colour Marketing Group, and winner of the 2024 SME Award for Most Influential Colour Consultant.
