Equality, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (EDEI) Webinar
Join the BIID for this essential webinar introducing equality, diversity, equity, and inclusion for the workplace and beyond
This introductory webinar explores the key aspects of equality, diversity, equity, and inclusion. It includes analysis but also what they mean in practice. There will be overview of equalities legislation, and we will explore the barriers faced by equalities communities and groups. Most importantly it will give an opportunity to help designers use what they have learned in practice and bring about change from a grass roots level.
Facilitator, Roger Griffith MBE, will draw on the recently launched How to Create an Inclusive Design Practice BIID guide to inform our audience of how EDE&I can be implemented into an interior designer’s business.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The 1 hour webinar will
- Outline of the protected characteristics and their historical context emerging from social justice movements that led to international legislation.
- Give an overview of the Legal Framework relating to EDEI.
- Deliver practical guidance on tackling bullying, harassment, and victimization in the workplace.
- Profile the background to some of the unconscious human behaviours including microaggressions, prejudice, stereotypes, and bias.
- Provide space for delegates to ask questions with a ten-minute Q&A.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This webinar is open to all, and we encourage all interior designers, employees of design practices, students of interior design and suppliers to the trade and their teams to register to attend.
