Online Workshop: Speedy Sketching for Interior Designers

Sharpen your skills and learn how to communicate your ideas quickly with hand drawn sketches.
So often during a site or presentation meeting the question will be asked ‘but what will it look like?’
A quick and confident sketch from the designer can be the picture that paints a thousand words.
WHAT TO EXPECT
This is a practical workshop to give practicing interior designers confidence in creating simple hand drawn sketches to communicate quickly and easily with clients, colleagues, architects and contractors, about ideas, furniture, details and room scenes.
Programme
- 11.00am - Introduction to the tutor and the course
- 11.05am - Introduction to technical drawing
- 11.25am - Introduction to one point perspective
- 11.40am - Practical assignments 1, 2, 3: drawing a box, chair and room in one point perspective
- 12.30pm - Coffee break
- 12.40pm - Practical assignments 4, 5: Drawing a furnished room in one point perspective from a picture and from a floor plan using a grid
- 1.40pm - Practical assignment 6: Speedy sketch using your own floorplan
- 2.00pm - End
WHAT YOU WILL LEAVE WITH
Confidence to quickly create free hand sketches to an estimated scale and proportion without the need to employ specialist equipment.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Membership type: This course is for BIID Registered Interior Designers, Associates and Provisional Associates.
Course Level: Participants should have basic technical drawing skills and be familiar with creating floor plans, elevations, and sections.
Devices: Participants will be encouraged to use smartphones/tablets to show videos or send photo files in real-time of their sketches to get feedback from the tutor during the course.
Materials: Participants should have to hand an A4 or A3 sketch book, pens/pencils of their choice and a ruler. A copy of a floorplan to use as the base material for your speedy sketch in practical assignment 6.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Born and raised in Torre Annunziata in south of Italy, Gianfrancesco De Falco attended his hometown Liceo Classico “Benedetto Croce”, a scientific and humanistic school that proposes Latin, Ancient Greek, Italian, History and Philosophy as principal subjects. After five years of intense study, he enrolled at the University of Naples, Federico II, where he graduated in Architecture. Upon graduation, he was awarded a Certificate of Accreditation as a Teacher in Design and History of Arts in Higher Education in Italy and the Qualified Teaching Status in UK.
During his time at University, he focused his work on Product Design and in particular, Ready Made, participating with his works in various International exhibitions. He has a unique 25 years background in Interior Architecture and Design on international residential projects and 15 years of Interior Design teaching. He currently lives and work as Interior Architect and Interior Design Teacher in London.
