Surface Design Show 2019
Located in Islington, Surface Design Show is the event of choice for architects, interior architects, lighting designers and designers.
Over 150 companies from the UK and abroad will be participating from 5-7 February 2019 at the Business Design Centre displaying the largest and most innovative selection of surface materials.
Running alongside Surface Design Show will be Light School and Stone Gallery, two events specific to those markets.
Three Stages located on the show floor will host over 40 presentations, including the Opening Night Live Debate in association with RIBA and NLA, our ever-popular PechaKucha Evening hosted by Chris Dyson of Chris Dyson Architects, Light Talks curated by the Institution of Lighting Professionals and the Stone Hub curated by Arup.
BIID will again be hosting a highlight event on the Main Stage presented by BIID President, Gilly Craft. 'Designing for an Aging Population' will discuss issues such as dementia, as well as the trend for more aspirational retirement apartments for an ageing population who want access to care facilities whilst still living in a well-designed, contemporary space that is suited to senior living. The winners of the 2019 Surface Design Awards will be presented at the show on the morning of Thursday 7 February. 197 Projects were entered into the Awards, with 48 selected as Finalists from practices including; Zaha Hadid Architects, Steven Holl Architects, Studio Egret West and Kengo and Kuma Associates.
