Hillcrest House — Macclesfield, Cheshire

Hillcrest House is the refurbishment of a much-loved family home, undertaken as the owners’ needs changed after their children left for university. The brief was to create contemporary, comfortable interiors, with continuity of colour, materials and detailing throughout the living room, snug, principal bedroom and en-suite.

Bespoke furniture and tactile finishes establish a warm, restrained palette. In the living room, two bay windows accommodate a generous bespoke desk and a window seat overlooking the valley. Locally crafted marble-topped tables, plaster wall lights and architectural panelling add character.

The bedroom combines bespoke upholstery, specialist veneers and antique mirror, while the en-suite features Italian porcelain and a sculptural stone bath. Lighting and automated window treatments integrate with the existing smart home system. A more intimate snug completes the scheme, with fitted cabinetry, velvet armchairs and softly illuminated cornicing.
