THE MANOR HOUSE | CHESHIRE

Complete Interior Architectural Redesign | Spatial Planning | Bespoke Craftsmanship

Situated in Cheshire, this substantial private residence underwent a comprehensive architectural and interior transformation, beginning with a complete strip-out of the existing interiors.

Martin Nealon was responsible for rethinking the property's internal layout, developing a new spatial arrangement that improved the relationship between rooms, circulation and everyday functionality, while establishing a cohesive architectural identity throughout the residence.

Central to the transformation was the complete redesign of the principal entrance hall, incorporating a striking bespoke staircase. Constructed around a fabricated steel structure and clad in French limestone, the staircase combines structural precision with traditional craftsmanship. Decorative wrought-iron spindles and a hand-carved oak handrail complete the design, creating a distinctive architectural centrepiece.

Throughout the property, natural oak was used to establish warmth and continuity. Bespoke oak doors were complemented by intricately carved entablatures, introducing classical proportions and architectural refinement.

The kitchen incorporated individually designed natural oak cabinetry, with bookmatched burr oak centre panels selected for their distinctive grain and character. The combination of carefully matched timber and precise joinery created a richly detailed yet cohesive interior.

Within the principal bathroom, bespoke hand-painted cabinetry was complemented by limestone flooring and natural stone vanity surfaces. These materials continued into the adjoining dressing room, establishing consistency between the interconnected spaces.

The completed residence demonstrates Martin's ability to lead a comprehensive residential transformation, from fundamental spatial reorganisation through to the design and coordination of intricate architectural detailing, specialist fabrication and bespoke interiors.

The result is a residence whose character is established through carefully considered proportions, natural materials and exceptional craftsmanship, with architectural design and interior detailing working together as a unified whole.
