BIID Council Of Directors Elections 2025
Shape the BIID's future by standing for the Council of Directors at this year's AGM. Deadline for nomination: 12.00pm Wednesday 11th June 2025
The Council of Directors is the governing body of the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID). It sets the strategic direction of the organisation, both in the short and long term, with support from BIID staff and our network of committees, panels, and working groups.
Directors have legal responsibilities under the Companies Act, including promoting the success of the organisation, exercising independent judgement, and managing conflicts of interest. They must also comply with the BIID's governing document, the Articles of Association. Becoming a BIID Council Director is an opportunity to influence the future of the Institute and contribute to the wider design community.
Election of Council Directors
The majority of BIID Council Directors are BIID Registered Interior Designers who are directly elected by fellow members during the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Each elected director serves a two-year term, with the option to stand for re-election for a second two-year term before stepping down.
Our Articles of Association allow for a maximum of 12 Council members, of whom up to 10 may be elected by the membership.
Current Council Vacancies
We are currently seeking nominations for three elected Council Director positions:
- One vacancy is created by May Fawzy, Past President, who is stepping down after completing her full term of office.
- The remaining two vacancies are due to Debra Kacher and Anna Burles, current directors completing their first two-year term. They are eligible to stand for re-election.
How to Stand for Election
To be nominated for election as a Council Director, you must:
- Be a BIID Registered Interior Designer.
- Have your nomination proposed and seconded by two other BIID Registered Interior Designers.
- Submit a statement outlining your relevant skills, experience, and what you would bring to the Council if elected.
