Consultation on holding an online AGM

This year’s BIID Annual General Meeting has been planned for Thursday 2nd July 2020. Given the current COVID-19 crisis, the BIID’s Council of Director is proposing to hold an ‘online’ AGM on the original proposed date. The Annual General Meeting serves several purposes. In addition to enabling members to vote on motions, it is where the election of new directors to Council takes place and where each year’s financial statements are approved. It is also where the BIID presidency is handed over each year and where we present our annual Merit Award and CPD Award. It is usually followed by our Summer Party, which unfortunately this year has had to be cancelled.

Given that times are so uncertain, and it is likely that large gatherings will be one of the last things that will return following the end of lockdown, the BIID Council of Directors has recommended that the AGM be held on online on its original date, rather than postponed. The BIID has successfully operated online voting for members who are unable to attend the AGM for the past few years so this can be expanded. The proposal is to use videoconferencing software to give the usual presentations. This software will also allow us to answer live audience questions.

We are keen to hear members views on this proposal. Please email info@biid.org.uk by 12.00pm on Monday 11th May 2020 to let us know your views.
