The BIID Student Drawing Competition 2025

The BIID Student Drawing Competition is back for 2025! Open to all current BIID Student members, this is your opportunity to showcase your creative and technical drawing skills.
The competition features three categories – ‘Digital’, ‘Hand Drawn’, and ‘Hybrid’ – with the winners of each category receiving a £500 cash prize. Winners will be announced on our website and across our social media platforms.
Judged by a panel of experienced interior designers, this competition is designed to be accessible to students across the country. With no entry fee, we aim to keep the competition as inclusive as possible.
Key Dates
- Thursday 13th March 2025 – Competition opens for entries
- Thursday 15th May 2025 – Competition closes (at 5:00 PM BST)
- Wednesday 11th June 2025 – Judging Day
- Thursday 26th June 2025 – Winners announced
Categories
- Digital: Submissions should be created entirely using digital software.
- Hand Drawn: Submissions must be entirely hand drawn, without digital or collaged elements.
- Hybrid: Submissions can include any combination of digital, hand drawn, and collaged elements.
Entry Criteria & How to Enter
- Each entrant may submit one drawing per category.
- Drawings should depict a completed, incomplete, or conceptual interior space.
- Entries must be submitted as a 2-page PDF (landscape or portrait format) with a maximum file size of 2MB.
- Page 1: Include the title of your drawing, a short description detailing the design brief and the materials/software used (if applicable). (Max 150 words; recommended font size: 24pt).
- Page 2: Your drawing. Only one drawing is allowed per entry—multiple drawings on Page 2 are not permitted.
- Name your PDF file as follows:
Entry – Digital – Your Name
Entry – Hand Drawn – Your Name
Entry – Hybrid – Your Name - As judging is anonymous, do not include your name or any identifying details within the PDF itself—only in the file name.
- Submit your entry via email to drawing@biid.org.uk by 5:00 PM BST on Thursday 15th May 2025.
Judging Criteria
Entries will be assessed on:
- Creativity and originality
- Ability to communicate a design idea or concept
- Technical ability

Terms & Conditions
- The BIID Student Drawing Competition ("the Competition") is owned and operated by the British Institute of Interior Design ("the BIID"), a company registered in England & Wales under company registration number 00860708. The BIID's registered office is Summit House, 170 Finchley Rd, London, NW3 6BP, and its correspondence address is 50 Liverpool Street, London, EC2M 7PY.
- Categories & Prizes: Prizes will be awarded in three categories: Digital, Hand-Drawn, and Hybrid.
- Winner Notification: Winners will be notified via email after the judging day on 11th June 2025. The official announcement will be made via the BIID newsletter, website, and social media channels on Thursday, 26th June 2025.
- Prize Details: Each category winner will receive a £500 cash prize, which will be transferred to the winner's nominated bank account within 10 days of providing their bank details. The prize is non-negotiable.
- Eligibility: The Competition is open exclusively to current BIID student members residing in the UK.
- Entry Period: Entries open at 12:00 PM GMT on Thursday, 16th March 2025 and close at 5:00 PM GMT on Thursday, 15th May 2025.
- Submission Method: Entries must be submitted via email only. Postal submissions will not be accepted.
- Entry Format: Entries must be submitted as a 2-page PDF, with a maximum file size of 2MB, and emailed to drawing@biid.org.uk by the submission deadline.
- Entry Fee: The Competition is free to enter.
- Disqualification: The BIID reserves the right to disqualify an entry if it is found to contain inaccurate or misleading information, or if the Entrant has acted in a manner contrary to the Competition rules or spirit. If an entry is disqualified, the BIID may also disqualify other entries submitted by the same Entrant.
- Withdrawal of Entries: Entrants may withdraw their submission by emailing drawing@biid.org.uk.
- Judging Panel: Entries will be assessed by a panel of expert judges appointed by the BIID.
- Anonymous Judging: All entries will be judged anonymously.
- Final Decision: The judges' decisions are final. No correspondence or discussion regarding decisions will be entered into. The BIID is unable to provide feedback to unsuccessful entrants.
- Judging Panel Details: The names and biographies of the judges will be published on the BIID website.
- Winner Announcement: Winners will be publicly announced on the BIID website and social media channels on Thursday, 26th June 2025.
- Use of Entries: By entering the Competition, Entrants grant the BIID permission to use their entry on its website, social media, newsletter, and other communication channels. The BIID may also share submitted content with selected third parties (e.g., media organisations) for promotional purposes.
- Data Protection: Personal data collected for the Competition will be processed in accordance with the BIID Privacy Policy, available on the BIID website.
- Competition Changes: The BIID reserves the right to hold, suspend, cancel, or amend the Competition and its terms at any time.
- Governing Law: These Terms & Conditions are governed by English law, and both the Entrant and the BIID agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
