Coastal Comfort: Norfolk Villa Project with Calibre Climate, Atelier Associates, Ottoway Carpentry and Building and Kate Thomson Design.
Designed as the clients’ summer retreat away from the city, the property required consistent comfort throughout the warmer months, with the technical approach shaped around concealment and long-term usability from the outset.
In the basement games room, the air conditioning was incorporated within the ceiling coffers, allowing the system to be absorbed into the architectural detailing of the space rather than introduced as a separate visible element. The media room followed the same principle, with the coffered ceiling used to conceal the installation while maintaining a clean and visually controlled finish.
In the bedrooms and dressing rooms, the units were integrated within the joinery, with removable access panels formed at the back so that ongoing maintenance could be carried out without affecting the visible face of the fitted furniture.
Within the dressing rooms, air paths were also resolved invisibly through the joinery itself, allowing the system to operate effectively while remaining highly discreet.
The result is a carefully coordinated installation that supports the interior architecture and the wider design language of the house without drawing attention to the services.
