Oak Cottage — Knutsford, Cheshire

Set in the countryside near Knutsford, Oak Cottage brings together bespoke craftsmanship, natural materials and carefully planned lighting. The brief connected the dining room, study, principal bedroom and circulation spaces across three floors, giving each room its own character within a cohesive home.

The windowless hallways required particular attention. Concealed lighting reveals the texture of handwoven wallcoverings, while an antiqued mirror wall adds depth to the stairwell. Its centrepiece is an eight-metre chandelier developed in collaboration with a lighting manufacturer, incorporating hand-hammered bronze and individually handblown glass.

In the study, an inherited desk and chair informed the colours and bespoke cabinetry, preserving their personal significance. A welcoming dining room and softly layered bedroom complete a home that balances sociable spaces with quieter places to work and unwind.
