Oak Versailles parquet for a Victorian Villa in West Hampstead

Smoked oak Versailles panels bring rhythm and underpin rich materiality

For over a century, this grand Victorian home in West Hampstead had retained its quiet architectural presence, though years of dark, heavy finishes had begun to obscure its original character.

A thoughtful reconfiguration and renovation by Veves Design has carefully rebalanced the interior, restoring a sense of light, flow, and proportion while preserving the home’s inherent elegance. Central to this transformation was the introduction of smoked oak Versailles panel parquet, featured throughout the principal reception and dining spaces.

The Landmark Tredegar panels establish a strong visual foundation, their geometric rhythm enhancing the scale of the rooms while adding depth, texture, and warmth. The natural tonal variation of the smoked oak softens the formality of the parquet, creating a more relaxed and inviting atmosphere.

The result is a considered interior that brings clarity and cohesion to the home, allowing its period features to sit comfortably alongside a more contemporary spatial language.
