RIV DESIGN was invited to undertake a comprehensive renovation and rear extension project for a four-bedroom semi-detached house located in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. The task at hand involved various difficulties, such as creating a more spacious and family-friendly open-plan layout, maximizing the house's functionality, enhancing natural lighting, incorporating additional bedrooms, and introducing a new bathroom on the first floor. Additionally, the interior of the property exhibited signs of wear and outdatedness, characterized by old wallpapers, carpets, and furniture. Our objective was to overcome these challenges and deliver an impressive, modernized residence that preserved the quintessential English-style living experience.
Furthermore, it's important to note that the property is located within a conservation area, which means that local authorities have stringent guidelines and regulations in place to protect the area's heritage and character. As a result, any proposed modifications to the property's external appearance must be considerate and respectful of the region's historical and architectural significance.
