The Upton — Prestbury, Cheshire

Set within a former farm building in the Prestbury countryside, The Upton was designed around the owners’ enjoyment of cooking and entertaining. The brief brought kitchen, dining and relaxation together in one generous open-plan space, connected to the gardens through glazed sliding doors.

A blue German-made kitchen anchors the scheme, with full-height cabinetry recessed flush into the wall. A substantial island provides seating for guests, while oversized handles and knurled metal details add texture to the minimalist cabinetry.

Hammered metal pendants define the dining area. A bespoke L-shaped sofa creates a comfortable sitting space, with a freestanding Scandinavian-style gas stove providing a focal point. Herringbone Italian porcelain flooring connects the areas, with underfloor heating beneath.

Furniture proportions, lighting and finishes give each area a clear purpose while maintaining an open, sociable interior and views towards the surrounding countryside.
