Profile

Cecilia Neal completed a Postgraduate degree in the History of Architecture and Fine and Decorative Arts, before commencing her training in interior design. She started Meltons, her interior design practice over 25 years ago. Cecilia likes to supervise and carry out the co-ordination of contracts personally, and has a strong professional back-up team to assist her with the running of each project. Working closely and sensitively with her clients, she ensures that their wishes will be fulfilled. 'We design to suit each client, whether it is their country house, flat in London, skiing chalet, workplace or investment property.' Meltons undertake traditional, as well as ' classic/contemporary' schemes and, with her knowledge of furniture history, Cecilia is able to mix antiques happily with the best contemporary objects. Most design projects will incorporate the latest technology in audio-visual, lighting and security systems. Beautifully detailed joinery, timber flooring and customed design furniture are also a feature, and Cecilia works with well-known architects, where architectural work is involved in the design. Finished interiors are rich, warm and elegant, whether traditional or contemporary. Recent projects include: A classical Grade I listed house in New Town, Edinburgh; the renovation and redecoration of a large country house; combining two Mayfair flats to form a duplex with roof graden; the redecoration of a plantation house in Georgia, USA; the renovation and redecoration of a Chelsea house, including an environmentally controlled wine cellar; contemporary styled flats in Mayfair and Chelsea for a property development company. Current work includes a large house in Hammersmith; a terraced house in Chelsea; a family holiday house on the Cornish coast and a Moscow town house.
