Versailles panel parquet for a Clapham townhouse

toned-down oak grounds a home, balancing heritage and modernity

Overlooking Clapham Common, this grand five-storey townhouse has been reimagined over a four-year renovation into a home that balances family living with the display of a significant Asian art collection. Led by Gordon Leney Studio in collaboration with Studio S-B, the project places our Dyrham oak flooring at the centre of its material language.

Engineered Landmark Dyrham timber runs throughout, from wide boards in the more relaxed spaces to Versailles panels in the formal rooms, creating continuity while defining each setting. The bold geometry of the pattern introduces rhythm and gravitas, while the aged finish gives the impression that the floor has always belonged to the house.

The timber’s tonal variety and softly aged finish bring warmth and depth, complementing restored architectural details and interiors layered with antiques from Schoeni Projects alongside contemporary pieces.
